**Part-time Bookstore Cashier**

**Department:** Bookstore **Location:** Joplin, MO

**General Statement of Job**

The Bookstore Cashier, under general supervision, provides customer service by processing customer orders in an efficient, accurate, and courteous manner, as well as answer questions to the campus community relating to the bookstore. Assisting store customers by phone and in person with questions regarding all store merchandise.

**Specific Duties and Responsibilities**

**Essential Duties:**

Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on fast, friendly, customer service.

Utilizes Bookstore software to process customer orders.

Handles monetary transactions including cash, checks, and credit cards. Counts cash drawer and is accountable for its contents. Cashier must be required to know procedures for opening and closing store.

Promptly answer phone calls and voice mails with courtesy, addressing callers needs.

Have a general knowledge of how the text rental program operates.

Will perform duties such as cleaning, stocking, pricing, folding and organizing merchandise.

Responsible for performing all job duties with honesty and integrity.

Must have or develop an understanding of bookstore software system to solve problems and answer questions relating to student and department inquires.

Assists students, faculty, and other customers to locate books, supplies, related materials and answer questions regarding Inclusive Access.

Resolves or researches customer account questions via bookstore and/or administrative software systems.

Assist internal and external customers with questions or concerns about course materials and general merchandise.

Other duties may be assigned.

**Education, Experience, and Licenses**

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

One to two years related experience and/or training.
