Job Title: Part Time Accompanist

Reports to: Principal

Purpose Statement: The job of Accompanist is done for the purpose(s) of proving support to the instructional program with specific responsibilities for providing accompaniment for rehearsals and performances; assisting with related tasks; and serving as an instructional resource for students and teachers in the area of fine arts.

Essential Functions

• Accompanies choral groups in a variety of settings (e.g. rehearsals, concerts, competitions, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring professional musical support for students and instructors.
• Analyzes assigned music prior to rehearsal and performances for the purpose of ensuring efficient use of rehearsal time and performance schedules.
• Assists the teacher in supervising student activities for the purpose of ensuring efficient use of class time and maintaining a positive learning environment.
• Attends work on a regular basis for the purpose of providing students with high quality service and instruction.
• Consistent interaction with students for the purpose of educating students.
• Exhibits professional and stage etiquette for the purpose of serving as a model of professionalism at musical performances.
• Participates in team meetings, in-service trainings, workshops, etc. for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information and supporting District goals.

Other Functions

• Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

• Maintaining confidentiality
• Satisfactory in piano playing, sight reading music, and working with large groups, solo vocal instrumentals and choral singers.
• Communicating with diverse groups

Education

High school diploma or equivalent and job-related experience

Certificates/Licenses

Substitute Certificate issued by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education

Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance

Working Environment

Some lifting (up to 15 pounds at times), carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, this job requires prolonged periods of sitting - 90%, 5% walking, and 5% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
